Coronavirus has had a detrimental impact on many people’s lives and on the world economy. With the hospitality industry being one of the worst hit sectors many of us have become confused about government guidelines and what is legal or illegal.

At Good Look Events our COVID-19 event safety team is constantly monitoring government guidance and working with other sector leaders to create safe, covid-19 friendly events for private and corporate clients.

Being outdoors is lower risk for coronavirus transmission when compared to being indoors. It’s not surprising therefore that outdoor events have been massively popular with our clients who also want to take advantage of the fine summer weather.

Covid-19 Guidelines
The government is regularly adjusting their coronavirus guidelines and therefore we recommend you contact our team to keep abreast with the latest developments. That being said and at the time of writing this, the UK government has indicated that large gathering can still go ahead with conditions:

Excerpt from the .gov website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/meeting-people-from-outside-your-household-from-4-july

“You can continue to meet in larger groups if necessary for work, voluntary or charitable services, education, childcare or training, elite sporting competition or training, to fulfil legal obligations, to provide emergency assistance, or to enable someone to avoid illness, injury or risk of harm.

You can also meet in larger groups for weddings, funerals, religious ceremonies and services, community activities and support groups – which should be limited to no more than 30 people and subject to COVID-19 secure guidelines.

It is otherwise against the law for gatherings of more than 30 people to take place in private homes (including gardens and other outdoor spaces). Businesses and venues following COVID-19 secure guidelines can host larger groups. This is also the case for events in public outdoor spaces that are organised by businesses, charitable or political organisations, and public bodies, provided they take reasonable steps to mitigate the risk of transmission, in line with COVID-19 secure guidance and including completion of a risk assessment.

What this means for your event
The government has indicated that gathering in private homes including gardens and outdoor spaces can go ahead as long as the total number of people does not exceed 30.

Furthermore, the government guidelines make it clear that business and venues who follow COVID-19 secure guidelines can host larger groups and this is also the case for public outdoor spaces that are organised by the business.

This has resulted in our Marquee service receiving a massive boost in bookings and many clients both private and business seeking to work with our venues and COVID-19 event safety teams to ensure larger group gathering can be carried out safely and legally.

How to book your outdoor event
We have seen great demand for outdoor event services and would encourage you to enquire early on as venues are likely to have limited availability and our marquees are constantly being hired by smaller private parties.
