Although your wedding day is the most special day in your life, it can also be one of the most anxious and nerve wracking events you’ll ever take part in.
To help calm your nerves we’ve put together this great article with 5 ways to stay calm on your wedding day, check it out below:
- Prepare: The day before your wedding is almost as important as the wedding day itself. Avoid oily and generally unhealthy foods as these may cause you to feel bloated and may irritate your digestive system. Take time to have a long hot bath using epsom salts to soothe your tight muscles.
- Sleep: Getting a good night’s sleep before your wedding day is no easy feat. You’re bound to be anxious and your nerves will be all over the place. If you’ve followed our advice in point 1 and had a long hot bath you will already be feeling a little less worried. Take a few deep breaths and make yourself a soothing herbal tea, chamomile and lavender both have anti-anxiolytic properties.
- Meditate: If you are looking for a scientifically proven way to reduce your wedding day anxiety then meditation is the way to go. Take ten minutes to yourself, ideally sit in silence and concentrate on breathing in and out. Meditating or what’s now known as mindfulness will help you relax quickly.
- Breathe: Anxiety and nerves on your wedding day is normal. For a quick fix try the 7 to 11 breathing technique. Breathe in and out through your nose, In for a count of 7 and out for a count of 11. The important thing is to breathe out longer than you breathe in.
- Alcohol: Many people believe that having a few drinks before and on the day of the wedding will help reduce their anxieties. Although a glass of wine might just take the edge off, it is important to understand that to maintain the effects of alcohol you will need to consume more. More alcohol means you’ll probably end up drunk and embarrassed on your wedding day. We recommend you ditch the alcohol, have a warm herbal tea made with lemon balm for its relaxing properties and use lavender essential oils on the day of the wedding to reduce your wedding day anxieties.
